It is an unpasteurised washed-rind cows milk cheese made in the Bourgogne region near Dijon. This cheese is not for the faint hearted!
For a while it was banned on public transport due to the yeasty meaty farmyard aroma. Coming from the rind being washed in Marc de Bourgogne. Matched by the wickedly strong, meaty taste.
